Graphic Design 2Hello Everyone! This week is our last week of new material in this class for the school year! It has definitely been a different year, but I want you all to know that I enjoyed working with you in class and I hope you enjoyed broadening your skill and creativity in graphic design. Thank you for working hard and sharing your creativity with me. This week, we will take our vintage inspired postcard/ travel poster drawings from last week one step further and create a digital rendering of them using sketchpad.app/en/. 1. Create drawing in sketchpad -Must be colored -Must be a depiction of a place and must have the name of the place 2. Email me your final piece with a quick reflection as to why you picked the place you created. I can't wait to see what you came up with! Have fun with this and let me know if you have any questions. Cruiser Update: The initial intent was to debut the cruiser designs at Papillion Days Parade. Since Papillion Days have unfortunately been cancelled, the cars will still be wrapped in the upcoming weeks, however, they will not be debuted at the parade. I'm hoping that after all of this settles down, we will still be able to have the wrapped cars unveiled somehow like originally discussed. I will keep you updated as I hear more. You all worked so hard on this! Have a wonderful summer! Intro to ArtHello Everyone! This week is our last week of new material in this class for the school year! Intro to ArtThis week, we will create works of art using natural (no trash or created materials) things found in nature. Spring is the perfect time to find a wide array of various colors to incorporate into your piece. The attached images are more mandala like. We created mandalas at the start of the semester. You do not need to create a mandala, for example, you can create a picture using natural materials. That being said, you must create a piece that reflects at least 2 Principles of Art. How you portray this is up to you, but you will need to explain your reasoning. -Check out the project information: Below -Watch these videos for inspiration: youtu.be/ulLU1BUJk8Q , youtu.be/XgHcqoOoeu0 -Email me a photo of your work with your reflection by Sunday May 10th (Evening).
Pottery (All Levels)This week, we will do something a little different and will step away from clay. We will go out into nature and create works of art using natural (no trash or created materials) things found in nature. In pottery we have created sculptures that have dealt with the Principles of art. Spring is the perfect time to find a wide array of various colors to incorporate into your piece. The attached images are more mandala-like and are based off of a circle. These designs are symmetrical from the middle to the outside edge. You do not need to create a mandala, for example, you can create a picture using natural materials. That being said, you must create a piece that reflects at least 2 Principles of Art. How you portray this is up to you, but you will need to explain your reasoning.

First off- I hope everyone had a nice weekend and I want to say way to go on last week's activities! You all did a nice job spending time on the task at hand and really spent time putting in effort and creativity. Intro to Art This week we will take our creativity outside! With the weather warming up, some fresh air and sunshine is the perfect combination to have fun with this activity. Your canvas will be a sidewalk or driveway. You can use sidewalk chalk, chalk, or try making DIY chalk paint! Your work must be your work. Be creative and add your own flair to something that catches your eye or come up with something completely unique all together! DIY Chalk Paint recipe -Mix Equal parts cornstarch and water (I would start with a cup of cornstarch and a cup of water), stir it up well, divide into different containers for multiple colors, add food coloring to desired vibrancy. *Add- mix-test -and adjust accordingly *If you have a chunk of cornstarch in the bottom add a few more drops of water and mix. *use a paint brush to simply paint your designs

Graphics 2This week, we will take what we learned about letter spacing or “kerning” from last week’s activity and apply it to pencil and paper. Similar to what we do in class, we start our projects with a sketch before applying it to the computer. All graphic designers start their work with a sketch, this could be a pencil and paper sketch or a sketch on an iPad or drawing tablet. -Video Link -Project information: Below -Email me your photos of your final drawing and the original source photo you are altering
Hello! I am splitting up this post into Pottery (all levels), Graphics, and Intro to Art. Please focus on the activity for the class in which you are enrolled. If you finish that one and would like another creative activity, try one of the other class' activities :) Have fun with this! Snap a photo of your work and add it to the comments on this post and if this gives your trouble, email it to me at [email protected]. Please let me know if you have questions! Intro to Art: For our first activity, I thought doing something a little different would be fun! It will be a review of color theory. We will be working on a color wheel scavenger hunt! Look for items around your room or house that correspond to the specific color. Activity Information:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1xMJhOJ7_oYOU MUST: -Include 6 items of each color. Remember, you must include the basic primary colors of red, yellow, and blue the secondary colors of green, orange, and violet. -You must write your name on a piece of paper and include it in your photo so I know this is your work. Remember: have fun with this activity and be creative. Graphics 2: This week we will experiment with the activity found at: https://type.method.ac/ This is similar to the bezier pen tool activity that we worked on earlier this year. The purpose of this activity is to better familiarize ourselves with text and spacing or the "kerning" between letters. Kerning improves the appearance, design, and readability of your text. Kerning can help you create better designs and produce more visually appealing work. **When you have finished, attach a screenshot of your progress to the comments section of this post. -Continue doodling ideas and watching Youtube Photoshop and Illustrator clips. I know there might be one or two of you who have access to Adobe software at home, I encourage you to continue exploring and creating! Remember, the more you do and practice, the more it benefits you as a graphic design student. Pottery (All levels): For our first activity, we are going to watch the final episode of The Great Pottery Throwdown. This episode has the "best of the best" potters from this season. Seeing these professional potters throw is a great learning tool because it allows you to see various techniques that we might not have touched on in class yet or it takes one technique we do and it puts a different spin on it. These potters are creating a tea set. This is something we create in class and is a culmination of multiple techniques and thrown forms contained within one project. 1. Watch the Youtube video: Click here 2. Pay close attention to their technique of skill so you can reflect on the attached worksheet below. 3. When you are finished, you can copy and paste your reflection to the comments section of this post or email me the attachment at [email protected]. **Pottery Throw Down activity worksheet is below.
